Monday class: wood identification and preparation will cover tree wood conditions, seasoning, sources, six components of tree system sad how to read characteristics of wood.
Tuesday & Wednesday: Woodturning 101 covers lathe construction, terminology, parts, accessories, power systems, safety requirements, maintenance, sources, turning tools, sharpening old style gouges, carbide tipped tools, abrasives, adhesives. In 15 years in this trade I hope to have all the information you would like. Thursday class is making spinning tops from spindles. All you learn the first three days will come to the fore in this class. Friday class is making tops from OSS grain wood. Student outcomes desired from this week are to prepare the student to turn wood safely and enjoy the activity. Students need to bring safety glasses or safety shield. Those who want to wear a turning smock should bring that to the class.
